Activity Idea Coins • Senses
No doubt about it…kids love to live in the moment & experience everything!
Sometimes using our senses can be lifesaving. Mostly, we use them to experience or figure out how we feel about something in our environment.
It will be fun to watch as your child begins to recognize and put a name to what senses they are using.
Activities are completely flexible and open-ended. Start with one of the simple activities and expand on it if you’d like. Follow your child’s lead as they go! Your child will have fun going on an indoor scavenger hunt, or drawing pictures with their eyes closed. How about a staring contest or turning on music and dancing? You will find all of these ideas and more in the Activities Box! The best part is that the ideas and activities never get old...kids can do them over & over again.
>When the activities are as child-led as possible, you are providing an opportunity to help build your child’s self-esteem, encourage independent thinking, and grow their decision making skills. Offering child-led, play-based activities by choosing a coin/activity is the perfect way to begin each activity and ensure a child-led experience from start to finish.
Activities and ideas are simple, require little to no prep-work, and use items that you have around the house. If you do not have a specific item, you can substitute something in its place. If an activity is too hard, you can easily adapt it to fit your child. Find a way that works best for you and your child and have fun!
